Medical & Hospital > Rotunda Hospital
Project Outline
Clancy Construction is delighted to announce that we have secured the contract to complete the re-development of the world's oldest working maternity hospital. The Rotunda Hospital has been a part of the Dublin City Centre landscape since 1757 and has continued to provide maternity services to women and their families for hundreds of years and is constantly trying to adapt new ideas and techniques to improve the outcome for both women and their babies. The plans for the redevelopment include a new front reception and Emergency Room facilities.

The capital funding for the project will allow for the much needed expansion of the front reception area out into the ambulance bay. This expansion will allow the development of a new Emergency Room, which will have five separate sound-proofed cubicles providing greater privacy for patients. The new ER will have its own dedicated waiting area and toilet facilities. This new increased area will relieve congestion and allow for the smoother running of such a critical care area in the hospital.

The project is due for completion in March 2009. At this stage the new shop and coffee area will be fully operational.

Mr. Fintan Fagan, Secretary/General Manager said that he was delighted that the project was started and that the benefits, in the long term, for patients, visitors and staff would be enormous. However, he stressed that everybody would be inconvenienced during the building works and requested co-operation and patience, while we strive to improve our patient facilities. Clancy Construction have many years experience working in these live situations and will endeavor not to disrupt the day to day running of the hospital.
